Over 250 volunteers work with our therapy horses and participants to aid in providing safe, effective and fun lessons. All lessons are designed to meet the personal goals of our participants – whether they want to focus on improving their physical fitness, cognitive acuity or just to have fun. Riders may not exceed 180 pounds – this is to preserve the health of the horses and the safety of our volunteers. For those who exceed the weight limit there are several other fun and educational Equine Assisted Learning ground activities available, including barn management, horsemanship and mini experience.
Eagle Mount’s Therapeutic Riding and Equine Assisted Activities Program is active year round in the Cyndi Fonda Therapeutic Riding Center. Our facility is a Premier Accredited Center (PAC) of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship – International. This distinction of excellence puts our program in the top 200 of over 850 member centers affiliated with PATH, ensures that all riding instructors are PATH Certified Instructors and that our volunteers are trained in every aspect of therapeutic riding with the emphasis on safety.
