Adventure Days

Summer in Montana is time for outdoor adventures! If you love hiking, rafting, fishing, kayaking, rock climbing, music, camping, and hanging out with a great group of people, Adventure Days is for you. This program offers a mix of activities that get you outdoors and moving! For the summer of 2019 we will offer one four week session where the camper comes once a week and one week long session where the camper comes from Monday – Thursday. We will host our Annual Campout in the middle of July after the first session ends. The hope is that the new schedule will make Adventure Days available to folks that pile it all in during the summer. The 2019 AD Participant Schedule will go over this summers activities and we will start to sign up campers on Wednesday May 15th online. Adventure Days is made possible by a grant from the Gilhousen Family Foundation.

Get your climb on! This is your opportunity develop your strength and see how high you can go. Rock climbing often tests a climber’s strength, endurance, agility and balance, along with mental control. We practice safe and proper climbing techniques and use specialized climbing equipment. This program is designed to encourage positive progression in each and every participant. Currently, we do not have the ability to climb outdoors, but due to Spire’s willingness to work with us, we are able to offer an indoor climbing program. This will run in line with the two Adventure Day Sessions every Thursday afternoons for the first session and the the week of July 15th – July 18th for the second session. Participants will need to be dropped off at the Spire Climbing Facility at 2:00pm and pick up at 4:00pm. All necessary gear will be provided for the climber to rock on!

The Handcycling Program is for individuals with lower body impairment such as spinal cord injuries. The group meets at 6:00 Tuesday evenings through the summer (official dates TBD); ride routes are of varying difficulty throughout the Gallatin Valley. Additional activities include “Hub and Grub” nights (ride and potluck), a supported camping weekend with a ride followed by kayaking on a local lake. Riders are encouraged to have fun and set a goal for the season. For more information please contact Jenny Woodham.

Volunteer Information:

If you are an avid cyclist or just enjoy getting out to enjoy a summer evening on a bike, then we would love to have your company. The needs of the handcyclists are simple. Some need assistance getting bikes out of cars and others will need help getting set up on a borrowed bike. Since these cycles are low to the ground, we have a volunteer to each cyclist. If you like tinkering or working on bikes, we could definitely use you! Volunteer applications and background check information can be found here, and training will be held May 16th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
