Eagle Mount’s Adaptive Horticulture Program encourages a connection with nature, nurtures independence, and instills a sense of patience. The Program Garden and Greenhouses enable people of all ages with physical and cognitive disabilities to enjoy the therapeutic benefits of planting, weeding, watering, and caring for a garden. Our Farmers’ Market stands offer an opportunity for social connection and to feel proud of what we grow together.

Garden Guardians are teams of participant families and volunteers who take on a weekly task to ensure our garden’s success. It’s a great way to get involved whether you’re a seasoned gardener or new to the program. The Garden Guardians season will kick off with a gathering in the Program Garden on June 9 at 5:30p.
Get your hands dirty, enjoy the sunshine, and grow vegetables, herbs, and flowers in our Program Garden and Greenhouses. Plus, enjoy field trips to other farms to explore the diverse world of horticulture.
Our Horticulture Program hosts a stand at the Bozeman Farmers’ Market at Lindley Park every Tuesday. Interact with customers, receive donations, and share our mission. All participants welcome – no prior Horticulture experience necessary.
9am-3pm
In our Horticulture Program, participants get their hands dirty and enjoy the physical and emotional benefits of caring for plants. Key activities include:
In the summer, we’re outside tending to veggies, herbs, and flowers in the Program Garden. Participants sow seeds, water plants, pull weeds, harvest produce, and make fun crafts with things we harvest from the garden.
Fall is harvest season! We enjoy the fruits of our labor by harvesting and processing the veggies, herbs, and flowers we grew all summer. Then, we care for the garden as it winds down for the winter ahead.
During our snowy winters, we move indoors to care for and propagate a variety of succulents and houseplants in the greenhouse.
In the spring, participants gear up for the growing season ahead by starting seedlings indoors in the greenhouse.
Horticulture participants host a stand at the Summer and Winter Farmers’ Markets, sharing our houseplants, seeds, produce, and crafts with the community.
When you participate at Eagle Mount, you make new strides, happy memories, and good friends while enjoying Montana’s amazing recreation opportunities! Our programs and camps are designed for people of all ages with physical, developmental or cognitive disabilities, and for young people with cancer.
As an Eagle Mount volunteer, you’ll receive training designed to help you improve your personal skills, learn to adapt to the needs of people we work with, and learn about the wonderful world of Disability.
Eagle Mount Bozeman invites annual partnerships and sponsorships from businesses and individuals deeply invested in community, who believe that people with disabilities or cancer deserve to experience all that Montana has to offer, and who want to help them “mount up with wings as eagles.“
