Dear Friends of Eagle Mount,
In Eagle Mount’s iconic red barn, Emily and Ruth saddle up every Thursday afternoon. they’re a package deal in the barn - helping each other tack up, offering feedback, and celebrating every victory together. They’re not just riding partners; they’re true best friends.
They met during Ruth's very first visit to campus and instantly connected. What began with Emily showing Ruth the ropes has grown - more than 10 years later - into their shard pursuit of advanced horsemanship skills, and a friendship filled with laughter, encouragement, and trust.
Eagle Mount’s generous community of supporters like YOU make this all possible.
Through Eagle Mount’s adaptive horsemanship program, people of all abilities find a place to grow and build strength - physically, emotionally, and socially - in partnership with the horses, instructors, and volunteers who bring the program to life. Eagle Mount’s Storey Mills Horsemanship Education Center is a PATH, Int. premier accredited center. During every lesson, our certified instructors meet each participant at their individual level, which has helped Emily and Ruth grow and achieve more here than they ever could at a traditional riding center.
Guided by their own unique goals, they’ve made incredible strides together in equestrian training, showmanship, and drill team. The best part is their fun doesn’t stop in the barn! Emily and Ruth have enjoyed nearly every program Eagle Mount has to offer together, carrying their connection to the garden, ski slopes, the pool, and many other activities. For Ruth and Emily, it’s not just about riding. It’s about confidence. Trust. Being who they want to be. And the kind of friendship that can only be built between two people who believe in each other.
Adaptive recreation is more than just riding or swimming or skiing - it’s people of all abilities who come together, build friendships, and discover what’s possible side by side. Every shared laugh on the trail or high-five in the barn reminds us that connection is the heart of inclusion.
Will you make a gift today to support this work?
